Crimson Keyboard App Reviews

You can finally get the blackberry 10 keyboard on iOS

I like this keyboard. It works well. Its word suggestions could be better but I dont think that it is learning how I type. Once it gains those features it will deserve 5 stars.

Buggy but great

Sometimes the keyboard doesnt pop up. That is always the case in the spotlight search. Also happens with text. I really liked the ability to type in both english and spanish in the same sentence. Fix the bugs and i will use again. For now i disabled it.

Please add support for romanian and dark mode !!!

Nice but not for me

Im back to Swift keyboard after trying Crimson over the past week. (Ive tried them all, both the free ones and the ones you pay for.) 1. I find the suggestions too small and hard to read. Maybe a different color would help. Gray suggestions above a light keyboard is no the right color. 2. The Apple, Swiftkey and the others offer a word, its plural, past tense and other variants as options. Crimson can only show one word tense and its usually not the one I want. I often have to type more letters than with others. 3. It doesnt support shortcuts, but a lot of others dont either. 4. Typing an email address is almost impossible. It breaks addresses apart at the @ and is a pain to type an address correctly. 5. If I try to use the suggestions, it takes longer to type everything. But I like the split keyboard, ability to have a personal dictionary (which you cannot correct-delete items but not edit), and long tap over some keys. I look forward to updates and will try it again to see if it makes typing faster for me.

Slow

This is a good keyboard but it feels slow to type on and it lacks a decent autocorrect. It also needs a speed boost it is laugh when typing fast Other than that it is a very nice keyboard

Has some problems, but its the best keyboard Ive tried yet

I actually had to turn the keyboard off to leave this review which is super annoying. It made the review form completely disappear no matter what I did. Features that could be a game changer: The personal dictionary would be amazing if you could add your own words manually in settings and edit existing words in the dictionary. Autocorrect is very strange with this keyboard. It would be great if it showed the upcoming corrections in the little bubble above the word as you see with the stock keyboard. As it is, this keyboards autocorrect function is what ruins the whole thing. There are times when you dont seem to have any control over the previous word if you didnt quite type it right. Often, you have to delete the entire word and start over because the keyboard just continuously flips between your misspelled word and something else you dont want and you are stuck in the never ending loop. Lots of potential: The visuals of the keyboard are my favorite part. Its a slightly more appealing and fun take on what the stock keyboard is. It has a familiar feel, but has a bouncy and pleasant design that really makes it stand out. I love that you can change its accent color. Useless features (in my opinion): The autocomplete function was immediately turned off for me. This is a major selling point for the keyboard and I think thats a mistake. Although it does make you type quickly, it also takes the personality out of your words. A predictive keyboard makes you predictable and thats just something I wont use. Overall: Where the keyboard is now, its not worth the money. However, the keyboard CAN be worth way more than its current price IF the quirks and bugs are fixed and proper features are given the proper attention. This is the only keyboard I have seen so far that is even worth a try. I hope this keyboard gets updated and can finally be a replacement for the stock keyboard for me. Im not looking for some gimmicky keyboard with fancy themes, I just want a refined version of the stock keyboard thats a little bit more exciting. This keyboard is SOOO close.

Buggy buggy buggy

This keyboard is great. Very easy to use. Makes typing very easy and quick. I highly recommend it.

Good start!

Having issues where when erasing characters the autocorrect fills in words. I end up having to erase the word like 3-5 times before getting to spot I need.

I like it but still buggy and crash a lot

Even when i am writing this review with the keyboard it made the review screen disappear and didnt work till i changed to Apple stock keyboard Also there is no enter button on numbers so you dont stuck when entering something with the number keyboard Also cant get the keyboard work when trying to use spotlight search

Horrible to use to type

First of all the predictions are pretty good and allow for you to make quick conversations without having to type too much, but it is much slower than being able to just type out full sentences since you have to look all around the keyboard to see if a word that you might want to use is in one of the predictions. My full gripe is that the keyboard does not do auto correction very well. It doesnt sense words that are even close to what you were trying to type and when it doesnt recognize a word it just allows for you to input the letters that you have typed. I think that one of the basic functions that could improve this app is of it had any basic auto correction to change "rhem" to them, etc. Overall this keyboard needs a lot of work and it is barely any better than the stock keyboard that comes already installed with the iOS.

Very well done!

Works very well. The contrast of the suggestions is much easier to read white on black, but being able to set that is coming says the developer. Its fast and responsive, and as a third party keyboard, its one of the best - even in this early stage. Its already my default keyboard.

Best 3rd party keyboard, hands down… Just needs some tweaks for 5 stars

Crimson is easily the best 3rd party keyboard (of course, IMHO). Nearly zero learning curve with a familiar keyboard layout. With the latest update, which includes awesome new features like pluralizing with swipes, quicker access to frequently used punctuation, and emoji, I have upped my review to five stars. Now if only Apple would allow the dictation microphone to appear with 3rd party keyboards...

Only OK

Emojis are a pain on this keyboard. Really messes with the experience. Once turned off all is ok. Honestly guys, just stick to the keyboard and stop trying to roll everything in the app. There are emoji keyboards for that. Work to improve the word selection etc. your cot function is not emoji but helping people type. Thanks for safeguarding our privacy ^^

Using on an iPad. Kinda liking it. Has potential.

Great keyboard, but as I use it on my iPad a lot, I sure wish it was optimized for it. Definitely unique and does something in a way no other keyboard does. My one request would be to move the backspace to the upper right. I keep adding p over and over when I try and backspace.

Much improved

Oddly enough you cant write this review with the keyboard Strengths: - accomplished BB10 like typing - dark theme - emoji keyboard is superior than stock - multi language support Opportunities: - needs to delete a space when entering punctuation - would be nice to have swipe-selection - dictation missing (I know its iOS issue but figure it out, maybe a C yd ia version??) - sometimes keyboard defaults to stock in iMessage or email

Very usable.

5 stars when compared to other third party keyboards. 4 stars when compared to Apples stick iOS keyboard. This is easily the most usable third party keyboard Ive tested, and Ive tested them all (within reason, I mean, come on). Speed typing with Crimson is not a complete disaster; the autocorrect engine is sufficiently accurate, but could never compare to Apples stock keyboard. There are third party keyboards with better autocorrect, but this one is good. The designer nailed the look and feel of the keyboard so it fits right into iOS, even the proper translucency and context aware light/dark keyboard. The keys are spaced similar to iOSs stock keyboard, so you wont have to adjust your memory. Crimson adds enough to the stock keyboard to be worthwhile, but holds back just a little too much in my opinion. Cursor movement would be nice, and lowercase keys would also be nice, though both novel. Also the keyboard fails to load in spotlight on iOS 8.3, where other third party keyboards have no issue - could be an iOS bug.

Brilliant

Very good

Great keyword!

Great keyword, and very easy to use!

Not loving it.

I loved the BB keyboard and high hopes for this. I realized that this keyboard tries to offer too many suggestions and the suggested words are too small and hard to see to be fast. Please optimize the word suggestions and increase the font size of the word suggestions.

Hands down the best.

This keyboard is by far the best keyboard on the app store. Its constant updates makes it always new with features. When compared to other keyboards you just cant go back once you try this one. Keep up the great work and keep the great updates coming. So worth the money.
